It takes a lot of effort and time to prepare cells from a culture that is constantly developing for use in an experiment. Ensuring the cells are prepared on schedule, in the right amounts, and with a constant quality is crucial.

Even though different cell types adhere to surfaces to differing degrees, proteases are frequently used to extract the cells from the flask. However, if significant receptors or membrane markers are removed by the enzymes used, or if there is a risk of protease exposure, this may not be appropriate for some lines.
